Job Purpose

We are seeking a Strategy Governance & Reporting Analyst (Strategy PMO) to anchor the strategic execution backbone within Operations, Collections, Recoveries, and Compliance (OCR). This role is responsible for translating strategy into structured execution, governance, and measurable outcomes through robust reporting, performance tracking, and executive storytelling. The successful candidate will establish and manage a central strategy hub, providing a single source of truth for all strategic initiatives, benefits, and performance across OCR. The role will partner with senior leadership to drive 3-year strategic planning, initiative tracking, governance cadence, and executive-level reporting across forums (Exco, Opcom, SteerCo). This position requires strong PMO discipline, analytical capability, and storytelling expertise to ensure strategy is executed with clarity, accountability, and measurable impact. The candidate will also be designing and implementing data driven collection and rehabilitation strategies for secured assets across the lifecycle.Analyse portfolio-level data to identify risk factors, diagnose root causes, and propose actionable solutions, including code optimisation and reporting automation ideas and strategies in a clear and concise manner.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy Governance & PMO Leadership

  • Translate strategic priorities into structured portfolios, roadmaps, and execution plans, ensuring alignment to the OCR strategic agenda.
  • Establish and manage end-to-end governance frameworks, including initiative lifecycle, approvals, risk tracking, and dependency management.
  • Drive governance cadence across forums (weekly, monthly, quarterly), ensuring clear decision-making and accountability.
  • Own and maintain a central strategy repository / hub, ensuring all strategies, initiatives, and artefacts are centrally tracked and accessible.

 

Strategic Reporting & Executive Storytelling

  • Develop and deliver high-impact executive reporting packs for Exco, Opcom, and SteerCo, translating complex strategy into clear, concise insights and decisions.
  • Lead the design of standardised reporting frameworks, including dashboards, performance scorecards, and initiative tracking views.
  • Provide holistic “single view” reporting across OCR, linking initiatives to outcomes (client, financial, operational, and risk).
  • Convert data and progress updates into compelling narratives that highlight performance, risks, opportunities, and required decisions.

 

Benefits Realisation & Value Tracking

  • Define and track financial and non-financial benefits across strategic initiatives (e.g., impairment reduction, cash uplift, productivity gains).
  • Ensure all initiatives have clear business cases, measurable KPIs, and tracked outcomes aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Monitor delivery against targets, timelines, and expected value, escalating risks and underperformance.
  • Drive a culture of value accountability, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable impact rather than activity.

 

Strategic Planning (3-Year Horizon)

  • Support the development and ongoing refresh of the 3-year OCR strategy, including initiative pipelines and prioritisation.
  • Align strategic initiatives to business performance requirements, regulatory priorities, and competitive positioning.
  • Maintain a forward-looking pipeline of strategic initiatives, ensuring balance between short-term performance and long-term transformation.

 

Champion / Challenger & Strategy Performance Tracking

  • Establish governance and reporting for champion/challenger strategies, ensuring structured testing, performance measurement, and decisioning.
  • Track and report on test-and-learn outcomes, scaling successful strategies and discontinuing underperforming ones.
  • Ensure all strategy changes follow a controlled governance and approval workflow, with clear audit trails and decision logs.

 

Governance, Risk & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure all strategic initiatives align with regulatory, governance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Maintain visibility of key delivery risks, regulatory dependencies, and compliance requirements across the portfolio.
  • Support governance forums with clear reporting of risks, decisions required, and mitigation actions.

 

Cross-Functional Coordination & Execution Enablement

  • Act as the central coordination point across Strategy, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Product teams.
  • Manage dependencies across initiatives, ensuring alignment and avoidance of duplication or conflict.
  • Support initiative owners with structured tracking, reporting templates, and execution discipline.
  • Drive consistency in how strategy is translated, tracked, and reported across teams.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate degree or certification in Strategy, PMO, or Project Management (advantageous).

Minimum Experience Level

  • 5–7 years’ experience in analytics-driven strategy, credit risk, or management consulting within financial services or,
  • 5–7 years’ experience in Strategy, PMO, Management Consulting, or Transformation roles in relevant context.
  • Proven experience in executive reporting, governance, and strategic initiative tracking.
  • Strong exposure to financial services / banking (credit lifecycle, operations, or transformation).
  • Proven track record in collections, recoveries, or credit lifecycle optimisation.

 

Core Skills:

  • Strong PMO and governance capability with the ability to structure and track complex portfolios.
  • Exceptional executive storytelling and PowerPoint development skills.
  • Advanced ability to link strategy to measurable outcomes and value realisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Highly organized with a focus on structure, discipline, and delivery clarity

 

Technical Knowledge:

  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel (executive-level reporting)
  • Strategy dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of benefits tracking, business cases, and financial modelling
  • Understanding of strategy governance frameworks and PMO best practices
  • Familiarity with banking operations, collections, and recoveries (advantageous)
  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, or R
  • Data visualisation tools: Power BI, Tableau
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability (executive-level outputs)
  • Understanding of credit risk, collections, recoveries, and NPL management
  • Knowledge of process optimisation and process mining
  • Familiarity with South African regulatory frameworks (NCA, compliance standards)
  • Strong grounding in data analysis, financial management, and strategy execution
