Title:  Software Developer II

Job Purpose

The role is responsible for software development of high-quality, scalable, maintainable, re usable and robust solutions on Loyalty and Rewards using technologies applicable to the Loyalty and Rewards technology stack/landscape. 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality software that meets functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop critical and complex technical components within areas of accountability.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, supportable, and reusable solutions.
  • Build and maintain ETL and data integration solutions using Ab Initio.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
  • Design, develop, and maintain integration services using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
  • Design, develop, publish, secure, and support APIs using IBM API Connect (APIC).
  • Develop automation, orchestration, and support utilities using Python.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolve production and system issues.
  • Produce technical documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests.
  • Manage deployment artifacts and support software release processes.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Engineering Lead(s), DevOps Engineers, and other development teams including cross-functional teams within Group-Technology.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical innovation.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
  • Support operational stability and performance optimization of solutions.
  • Provide technical mentoring and coaching to junior software developers.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, integration patterns, cloud services, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the achievement of business objectives and organizational values.
  • Perform standby duties for a duration of a week (Monday to Sunday) on a rotational basis. 

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

Preferred Qualification

  • Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification or formal training in software development technologies. (Enhanced recommendation)

    Minimum Experience Level

    •  Minimum 3 years of software development experience.
    • Experience working within Agile methodologies / delivery environments.
    • Exposure to AWS cloud services will be advantageous. 
    • Practical experience in the following:
      • Ab Initio ETL development
      • SQL development and database optimization/Performance Tuning
      • Postgres DB
      • IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE)
      • IBM API Connect (APIC)
      • RESTful API Development
      • API Security and Governance
      • Microservices
