Job Purpose
To develop and monitor the implementation of the Data and Digital Risk, Operational Risk Management, and other related risk frameworks in Nedbank and its subsidiaries to comply with regulatory requirements and ensure alignment to international best practice. The role further drives continuous improvement of data and digital risk management processes and methodologies, ensuring that risk practices remain relevant and aligned to evolving regulatory and business requirements.
Job Responsibilities
• Deliver on the Group Strategic Risk (GSR) strategies and annual business plans aligned to regulatory requirements and take corrective action, where necessary.
• Provide input into the enhancement of the Data and Digital Risk Management Framework, methodologies, policies, processes and provide guidance to address data and digital risk challenges in Nedbank and its subsidiaries.
• Conduct Coordinated Assurance reviews as per the Coordinated Assurance Framework
• Improve the effectiveness and relevance of internal and external loss data and digital risks.
• Review outcome of data and digital risk practices of stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyse data and digital risk losses and control breakdowns.
• Identify regulatory changes and potential future data and digital risks.
• Strong capability to interrogate data and extract actionable insights
• Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to facilitate accomplishments of data and digital risk objectives.
• Become a trusted advisor to influence decision making by providing an advisory service, guidance and support on data and digital risk management practices.
• Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders.
• Collaborate and maintain relationships internally.
• Identify opportunities to influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies.
• Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.
• Share data and digital risk related knowledge, resources and practices with team and stakeholders.
• Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Certifications
• Risk Certifications (FRM, PRMIA, IRMSA) - advantageous
• DAMA certified data management professional (CDMP) - advantageous
• BI certifications - advantageous
• Data and AI modelling/architecting - advantageous
Minimum Experience Level
• 2 - 5 years’ experience in Risk, Governance and/or Auditing
• Understanding of banking regulations (SARB, BASA, BCBS239).
• Proven experience in risk reporting roles for at least 3 years.
• Technical proficiency in Agentic Frameworks, Power BI, SQL (preferred).
• Proven ability to engage across business clusters, including executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience in strategic planning, business reporting, and translating insights into actionable decisions.
• Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate business risks effectively.
• Comfort with new Data and Digital projects, requiring out-of-the-box thinking and solution design.
• Practical experience in AI/ML risk oversight or model monitoring, including tracking model performance and control effectiveness within a governance or risk management framework.
