Job Purpose
To provide a superior client service through people by applying sound lending credit principles thereby enabling Nedbank to grow its client base within an acceptable credit risk appetite.
Job Responsibilities
- Understanding of the Sales environment, by providing assistance to the Relationship Manager’s to secure sound lending in support of the CIB strategy.
- Suggest alternative funding solutions by making recommendations based on the Credit Policy guideline and the analysis based on the information provided.
- Manage and sustain acceptable credit risk appetite by applying credit risk management processes to diverse portfolios.
- Assessing CIB loan applications within mandate.
- Assessing CIB loan applications in capacity as Member of Nedbank Credit Committee.
- Prepare CIB loan applications in excess of country mandate for presentation to AFCRAM.
- Assessing credit applications / reviews / portfolio reports by reviewing and evaluating information from direct reports and stakeholders.
- Preparing information on the business unit for monthly wholesale credit impairment reporting (monthly) and regulatory reporting (quarterly).
- Preparing submissions for Monitoring CRAM (monthly).
- Recommend funding solutions based on the credit policies and guidelines in conjunction with relevant Nedbank strategy and the analysis based on the information provided.
- Identify problem exposures and classification in accordance with the Bank of Namibia’s guidelines.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships by providing a range of specialized credit risk management advisory services.
- Providing correct reports to management, the Board, shareholders, and the Reserve Bank
- Ensure compliance by sanctioning credit decisions based on the credit policy guideline in conjunction with relevant Nedbank strategy and the analysis based on the information provided within applicable.
- Providing input for formulation of policies and procedures within the framework of sound credit management.
- Keeping abreast with changes in the micro and macro-economic, political, legislative, and social environment, in order to provide proper lending advice.

Key Requirements
- The applicant must be in possession of B-Tech in Credit Management, Post Graduate Qualifications or an applicable Business, Accounting or Economics degree. CA or CFA would be an added advantage.
- The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of standard credit principles, financial statements understanding, and the interpretation thereof.
- The applicant must have at least five (5) years extensive banking experience or knowledge in credit granting across commercial and corporate banking and lending products.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and Basel II requirements
- Expertise in Commercial and Corporate lending.
- Experience across multiple industries and banking products including structured/specialized lending.
- Ability to support and provide on the job training and skills transfer to upskill.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Minimum Experience Level
5 years extensive experience or knowledge in credit granting across banking and lending products
