Job Purpose

To monitor and provide assurance on the adherence to compliance practices in client facing departments to ensure compliance risks are managed and reported across the NNH Group.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate compliance risks within client facing departments to determine the state of compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and compliance requirements.
  • Execute and maintain the annual compliance risk management programme.
  • Review, validate and contribute to accurate compliance reporting and regulatory submissions.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units in the execution of compliance monitoring programmes.
  • Identify, escalate and advise on potential or actual compliance breaches through proactive and early detection.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to support sound compliance risk management.
  • Engage stakeholders formally by defining scope of work, understanding business objectives and identifying compliance risks.
  • Attend to regulatory relations, engagements and submissions.

  • Support the achievement of business strategy.
  • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will add value to stakeholders ‘businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
  • Provide advice and/or input to internal stakeholders on possible contraventions of compliance risks through early detection of such contraventions.
  • Comment on mitigating actions to be implemented by stakeholders through assessment of the adequacy thereof and recommend further corrective action (e.g., documenting policies and processes, etc.).
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
  • Ensure personal growth and application of new competence in function by completing all personal development plan activities within specified timeframes.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive for the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives.

Preferred Qualification

 

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree (Law; Risk or Compliance Management; Accounting: Auditing or Finance related qualification)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management will be an added advantage.

Preferred Certifications

Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA)

Minimum Experience Level

  • The applicant must have 5 – 8 year’s experience in risk management of which 3 years in a compliance related role.
  • The applicant must be knowledgeable of and experienced in the application of legislation applicable to Financial Institutions and/or Banking.
  • Relevant regulatory knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the NNH Group’s policies and procedures (internal candidates).
  • Namibian citizenship.
  • Valid Police Clearance.
