Job Purpose

To craft, execute and evaluate Marketing and Communication strategies; managing disciplines of the Marketing and Communication functions and integration of the Marketing and Communication processes; services; resources and deliverables to enable Nedbank to deliver on its business strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing and Communication Leadership:

  • Develop and execute an integrated, insight-driven marketing and communication strategy that aligns with business objectives, delivering immediate results while supporting sustainable long-term growth.
  • Translate broader Nedbank and Business Unit goals into a distinctive divisional marketing and communications strategy, ensuring competitive differentiation and strategic alignment.

Business Alignment and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Drive customer-centric strategies using segmentation, insights, behavioral analysis, and need-state assessments to inform compelling value propositions and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee omni-channel and digital marketing initiatives, optimizing customer experiences, journey performance, engagement, and conversion across paid, owned, and earned channels.

Brand, Customer, and Market Leadership:

  • Champion the Nedbank brand across the enterprise and in the Namibian market, strengthening governance, positioning, and reputation through robust brand leadership.
  • Utilize customer segmentation, market insights, and behavioral analytics to inform strategies, develop compelling value propositions, and drive integrated marketing and communication campaigns.

Digital, Data, and Communication Effectiveness:

  • Lead digital marketing and communication initiatives across paid, owned, and earned channels, optimizing customer engagement, journey performance, and conversion.
  • Lead the effective and ethical management of marketing and customer data to support data-driven and insight-based decision making.

Marketing Technology and Innovation:

  • Drive the marketing technology strategy to support automation, personalization, journey orchestration, analytics, and scalable execution.
  • Embed artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and personalization into marketing and communication programs to ensure future readiness.

Commercial, Financial, and Operational Management:

  • Manage the marketing and communication budget, ensuring financial discipline, accurate forecasting, optimal resource allocation, and ROI optimization.
  • Lead marketing and communications operations, including workflow, governance, compliance, and operational risk management, and establish consistent reporting and performance structures.

People, Culture, and Leadership Development:

  • Develop and implement a people strategy that fosters a high-performance, values-driven, and future-fit marketing and communication team that is aligned to Nedbank’s vision, values, and transformation priorities.
  • Lead culture-building initiatives, coach and develop talent, and promote leadership standards and transformation priorities.
  • Drive initiatives for succession planning and capability building, and manage performance while fostering accountability, recognition, and professional growth.

Compliance, Governance, and Risk Mitigation:

  • Ensure full compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and relevant legislation (including BON and NAMFISA regulations), maintaining robust governance, responsible data use, and audit readiness.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate marketing risks through effective controls, interventions, and operational oversight.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Commerce, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field

Minimum Experience Level

  • 10 years of Marketing and Communications experience of which minimum 5 years should be at Senior Management level
  • Management experience in the Financial Services industry will be an added advantage
