Job Purpose

To provide a superior client service through people by applying sound lending credit principles thereby enabling Nedbank to grow its client base within an acceptable credit risk appetite.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage daily activities of direct reports by monitoring the staff output.

  • Suggest alternative funding solutions by making recommendations based on the credit policy guideline and the analysis based on the information provided.

  • Understanding of the Sales environment to provide assistance to the Relationship Manager’s to secure sound lending in support of the Business Unit strategy

  • Manage and sustain acceptable credit risk appetite by applying credit risk management processes to diverse portfolios.

  • Ensure quality of submissions of credit applications / reviews / portfolio reports by reviewing and evaluating information from direct reports and stakeholders.

  • Recommend funding solutions based on the credit policies and guidelines in conjunction with relevant Nedbank strategy and the analysis based on the information provided.

Job Responsibilities Continue

  • Identify problem exposures and classification in accordance with the Bank of Namibia’s guidelines.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships by providing a range of specialized credit risk management advisory services.

  • Providing correct reports to management, the Board, shareholders, and the Reserve Bank

  • Ensuring that policies and standard operating procedures are adhered to

  • Providing input for formulation of policies and procedures within the framework of sound credit management

  • Keeping abreast with changes in the micro and macro-economic, political, legislative and social environment in order to provide proper lending advice.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Key Qualifications

The applicant must be in possession of B-Tech in Credit Management, Post Graduate Qualifications or an applicable Business, Accounting or Economics degree.  CA or CFA would be an added advantage.

Minimum Experience Level

  • The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of standard credit principles, financial statements understanding, and the interpretation thereof

  • The applicant must have at least five (5) years extensive banking experience or knowledge in credit granting across commercial and Corporate banking and lending products.

  • Knowledge of accounting standards and Basel II requirements

  • Expertise in Commercial and Corporate lending.

  • Experience across various products including structured/specialized lending

  • Ability to support and provide on the job training and skills transfer to upskill.
