Job Purpose

 To analyze, interpret, collate and present financial and non-financial information in order to drive strategy; enable decision making and support Nedbank Business Units; as per the business strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Maintain accurate records of all fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Track and manage the bank's fixed assets to ensure proper utilization and compliance with internal policies.
  • Regularly reconcile fixed asset accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare detailed reports on fixed assets for management, including asset valuations and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  •  Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to fixed assets.
  • Ensure the bank complies with all tax laws and regulations, including filing accurate and timely tax returns.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the bank's tax liabilities.
  • Regularly reconcile tax accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Track and monitor asset acquisition against approved budget on SAP.

Job Responsibilities Continue

  • Prepare and review tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements.
  • Provide tax-related advice to management and other departments within the bank.
  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the bank.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Regulatory Reports for submission and other Financial Reports as requested for exco and board
  • Prepare annual financial statements in Compliance with IFRS. 
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts within turnaround times by gathering business requirements, understanding business trends, and projecting forwards and making recommendations where appropriate. 
  • Ensure all general ledger entries are accurate and correctly posted and approved by checking daily reports, performing quality control checks and querying incorrect postings. 
  • Perform quality control checks (daily and monthly process) by verifying data accuracy, proper authorization and reconciling the general ledger accounts. 
  • Build trusting professional relationships by sharing professional knowledge, meeting deadlines and providing high quality work. 
  • Ensure compliance by following regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Effective and efficient communication with stakeholders. 

People Specification

  •  Valid Police Clearance Certificate.

Preferred Qualification

Bachelor of Commerce: Accounting or related.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 3-5 years experience in Accounting and Financial Management,with 1-2 years experience in financial services
  •  Articles completed at an audit firm
  •  Knowledge of SAP accounting system will be an added advantage
