Job Purpose

As a Middle Office Analyst, you will act as the vital link between our front-office fund management and back-office settlement teams. You’ll be responsible for executing trades, ensuring the integrity of trade data, managing the post-trade lifecycle, and mitigating operational risk to keep our investment process running smoothly.

You will execute investment transactions efficiently across all asset classes (SA Equities; Offshore Equities; Bonds; Money Market;  Instruments; Listed Property; FX; Futures; Options; Structured Products)  while minimizing market impact, transaction costs, and operational risk. The dealer is responsible for implementing portfolio manager investment decisions and ensuring best execution for clients.

Job Responsibilities

Trade Execution

• Execute equity, fixed income, money market, FX, derivatives and ETF trades.
• Source liquidity from brokers and counterparties.
• Manage order books and trading priorities.
• Ensure compliance with investment mandates and regulatory requirements.

Best Execution

• Achieve best execution in accordance with:
• FSCA requirements
• CISCA regulations
• Internal Best Execution Policy
• Monitor broker performance and transaction costs.
• Analyse execution quality and slippage.

Market Intelligence

• Maintain relationships with:
• Stockbrokers
• Bond dealers
• Banks
• Market makers
• Communicate market colour and liquidity conditions to portfolio managers.
• Monitor economic and market developments.

• Validate trade captures.
• Resolve exceptions with operations teams.
• Ensure accurate settlement instructions.

Trade Support

• Validate all executed transactions.
• Monitor settlements.
• Resolve trade exceptions.
• Liaise with custodians, brokers and administrators.

People Specification

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

Preferred Qualification

• Bachelor of Commerce in Finance / Economics / Investments
• Relevant market examinations
• CFA
• CAIA
• SAFEX Certification
• JSE Traders Examination

Minimum Experience Level

• 3-10 years asset management Dealing experience.
• Strong understanding of: Bloomberg; Reuters; OMS systems; EMS platforms
