Title: Technology/Domain Specialist I

Job Purpose
To actively own and participate in the overall evolution of the Technology or Domain asset while influencing and maintaining the health of the asset. Play a leadership role on the associated COE’s
Job Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence
- Manage and monitor daily backup operations using Commvault CommCell Console.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backup incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor storage capacity and optimize performance and scheduling.
- Tool Flexibility & Adaptability
- Maintain readiness to transition to alternative backup platforms should the bank adopt new technologies.
- Ensure documentation, processes, and integrations are adaptable to future tools.
- Participate in tool evaluation and migration planning when required.
- Technical Leadership & Advisory
- Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on technology and domain-related decisions.
- Advise Engineering Leads and Divisional Executives on architecture, design, and integration.
- Guide code design, branching, merging, and integration practices.
- Conduct technology reviews and quality assurance of code and design.
- Define, review, and enforce patterns, practices, and standards in technology application.
- Strategic Planning & Governance
- Collaborate with domain architects and technical consultants on technology/domain roadmaps.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical roadmaps aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Plan and drive implementation of agreed technical roadmaps.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks impacting technology or domain assets.
- Knowledge Management & Enablement
- Conduct internal knowledge-sharing sessions and update the asset knowledge base.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and upskilling within the team and broader engineering stream.
- Participate in special interest groups and conferences to stay current and share insights.
- Conduct experimentation to test new ideas and validate technology applicability.
- Support talent management practices and contribute to capability development.

- Align technology initiatives with business strategy, objectives, and values.
- Seek opportunities to improve business processes through agile thinking.
- Participate in Nedbank culture-building initiatives and corporate responsibility efforts.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Essential Certifications
- Commvault Certified Professional
- Commvault Certified Expert - CommCell Console
Minimum Experience Level
- Min 8 years IT Experience with in 4 years in Commvault Backup & Recovery
- Experience in Enterprise Data Protection & Storage Concepts
Technical / Professional Knowledge
- Primary Tools:
- Commvault (Backup & Recovery)
- Infrastructure & Integration:
- SAN/NAS storage systems
- Windows Server and Linux environments
- Virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Monitoring & Reporting Tools:
- Integration with enterprise monitoring & scheduling platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Control-M)
