Title: Technical lead NAR New Digital & Staff Channels

Job Purpose
Nedbank Africa Regions is seeking an exceptional Business and Technical Lead: Digital Channels to shape the future of digital banking across our African operations. This executive leadership role will champion the transformation of both customer and staff-facing channels, creating modern, scalable and market-leading experiences for Retail and Juristic clients while accelerating NAR’s digital growth ambitions.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Product Owners and key stakeholders to deliver customer-centric technology solutions.
- Drive collaboration across teams, fostering innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, balancing competing priorities across the business.
- Lead technology enablement initiatives and ensure successful delivery of strategic technology programmes.
Innovation, Governance & Delivery
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement to create business value and modernise the technology landscape.
- Establish high-performing ways of working that accelerate value delivery and execution.
- Drive accountability for team performance, milestones, and delivery outcomes.
- Ensure dependency management, risk mitigation, and compliance with governance standards.
Operational Excellence
- Lead process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives across the technology environment.
- Drive problem-solving, root cause analysis, and implementation of sustainable solutions.

- Communicate technology strategy and business priorities effectively to diverse stakeholder groups.

People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams through mentoring and targeted development plans.

- Drive succession planning, talent retention, and continuous learning across the team.
Key Accountabilities
- Own and drive the NAR Digital Channel Strategy and Roadmap.
- Accountable for customer and employee digital experience and adoption.
- Lead NAR API and Open Banking strategy.
- Drive a cloud native Channel Architecture
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Minimum Experience Level
- Essential Requirements:
- IT Qualification: IT, Data and Engineering
- Type of experience:11 Years + Leading a multidisciplinary virtual team to deliver a technical capability to a large corporate organisation
- 5+ years at senior leadership level, with proven track record of strategic leadership
Experience managing complex Technology matters in regulated banking environments
- Leadership Capabilities
- Exceptional ability to influence and collaborate with Exco members and other relevant stakeholders
- Strong communication skills with capability to translate complex legal concepts for business audiences
- Proven ability to influence policy direction and framework development
- Proven ability to lead organisational change and transformation initiatives
- Demonstrated ability in building and scaling high-performance Product delivery teams
Technical / Professional Knowledge
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business controls
- Proven experience in policy development and drafting of organisational frameworks
- Project leadership for major legal initiatives and transformations
- Experience in litigation and dispute resolution, managing high-stakes complex matters while protecting the bank's interests
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about legal issues within broader business contexts
- Deep understanding of banking business models and commercial implications of legal decisions
- Proven capability in anticipating emerging risks and opportunities in the evolving IT landscape
- Financial metrics: business case development, budget management, value realisation and managing total cost of ownership (TCO)
