Position

Senior Quantitative Analyst

Why join our team!

This role offers the opportunity to shape a high‑impact Personal Loans book by applying deep expertise in decisioning policy, affordability, thresholds and decision engine logic. You’ll work where portfolio dynamics and risk appetite intersect—translating lifecycle trends, regulatory expectations (NCA, Basel, IFRS) and robust impact testing into strategies that improve quality origination and commercial relevance. It’s meaningful, hands‑on complexity: from data QC and performance monitoring to model/strategy experimentation, you’ll build solutions that are practical, well‑governed and measurable.

You’ll also step into a space with real, positive challenge: tightening the link between strategy design and operationalisation across platforms; elevating executive‑ready storytelling from technical analysis; and harmonising inputs across Product, Sales, Business Integration, Credit and Quants. Some decision flows and documentation can be matured further—creating a clear runway for you to strengthen change control, sharpen rule logic, and enhance pre‑/post‑implementation testing. If you enjoy influencing senior stakeholders, turning ambiguous signals into clear policy decisions, and evolving the function toward a specialist capability, this role gives you the platform to do exactly that—without over‑promising, and with visible outcomes.

Job Purpose

To develop, optimise and maintain world‑class credit decisioning strategies and policy frameworks for the Personal Loans portfolio, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations, Nedbank’s quality‑growth strategy, and evolving market trends. The incumbent will apply advanced quantitative techniques, data-driven insights, and business acumen to shape origination strategies that drive sustainable portfolio health, responsible lending, and strategic competitiveness.

This role requires deep expertise in personal loans origination, stakeholder engagement at executive and head level, and the ability to translate credit risk insights into operational, strategic and commercially viable outcomes.
