Job Purpose

To lead the strategy, design, prioritisation, delivery and commercialisation of BCB digital channels and journeys, ensuring that client and colleague needs are translated into secure, scalable and intuitive digital capabilities. The role is accountable for maximising value from digital investment through disciplined roadmap management, cross-functional execution, adoption, migration, experience optimisation and measurable benefits realisation.

The role supports BCB’s ambition to simplify and digitize, grow the customer base, use data and insights proactively, and build a winning culture. It must connect technical delivery to business outcomes, with particular emphasis on digital self-service, seamless onboarding and servicing, platform migration, personalisation, straight-through processing, channel relevance and quantified value

Job Responsibilities

Digital strategy and roadmap

  • Translate BCB strategy and market/client insight into a coherent digital channel vision, target experience and prioritised multi-year roadmap. Maintain traceability from strategic outcomes to epics, features, releases and benefits

Client journey and experience ownership

  • Own end-to-end digital journeys across discovery, onboarding, transacting, investing, servicing and support. Use voice of client, behavioural data, research and service feedback to identify friction and continuously improve usability and accessibility.

Business case and investment prioritization

  • Develop and maintain business cases, benefit frameworks and prioritisation models to support investment decisions and ensure delivery of measurable commercial, operational and customer outcomes.

Product and backlog leadership

  • Define outcomes, scope, features and acceptance criteria. Prioritise the backlog using client value, commercial impact, risk, dependencies and delivery capacity. Lead planning, iteration/release reviews and roadmap communication.

Delivery orchestration

  • Partner with product owners, technology product owners, architecture, design and delivery teams to coordinate objectives, dependencies, testing, operational readiness and releases. Remove impediments and escalate material trade-offs early.

Leadership and capability building

  • Lead and develop digital product talent, including coach product owners, business analysts and designers, establish clear accountability, promote experimentation and create a high-trust, high-performance, client-obsessed culture.

Innovation and future readiness

  • Identify and test emerging capabilities, including AI-enabled experiences, personalisation, search and automation. Scale only where client value, controls, data readiness and business viability are demonstrated.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Essential Qualifications: Advanced Diploma or National First Degree in Commerce, Business, Information Technology, Digital, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Qualification: Postgraduate qualification in business, digital, product management or a related field.

 

Preferred Certifications

  • Preferred certifications: SAFe or equivalent agile/product certification; product management, design thinking, business analysis, change or digital analytics certification.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 5-7 years industry exposure: Strong knowledge of banking or financial services, digital channels, client servicing, payments and/or deposits is preferred.
