Job Purpose

To develop, execute and continuously evolve Nedbank's Township Economy Customer Value Proposition (CVP) by creating relevant, accessible and sustainable financial and non-financial solutions that enable township entrepreneurs to run their businesses. The role will drive customer growth, financial inclusion, ecosystem partnerships, market penetration, and commercial performance within township markets while positioning Nedbank as the leading financial partner in the township economy.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy & Value Proposition Development

  • Develop and implement the Township Economy strategy aligned to SME objectives.
  • Design differentiated value propositions for township entrepreneurs
  • Identify market opportunities, customer needs, pain points and emerging trends within township economies.
  • Build customer-led propositions through research, design thinking and market engagement.
  • Ensure the proposition addresses banking, funding, payments, business support and ecosystem needs.

Ecosystem & Partnership Management

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships
  • Identify new ecosystem opportunities that create access to markets, funding, education and business support.
  • Negotiate commercial partnerships that drive customer acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Coordinate joint go-to-market initiatives with partners.
  • Leverage partner ecosystems to improve market reach and customer engagement

Customer Acquisition & Growth

  • Drive acquisition strategies within township markets.
  • Identify priority sectors and customer segments within township economies.
  • Develop campaigns to increase product penetration across payments, deposits, lending and insurance.
  • Create lead-generation frameworks supporting the SME sales teams.

Financial Inclusion & Funding

  • Improve access to funding through fit-for-purpose lending solutions.
  • Support development of alternative credit models and transactional-data-led lending approaches.
  • Drive awareness and adoption of pre-approved lending offers and digital funding channels.
  • Identify barriers to financial inclusion and develop solutions to reduce these barriers.
  • Promote funding readiness programmes and financial literacy initiatives.

Job Responsibilities Continued

Market Development & Engagement

  • Represent Nedbank across township economy forums, summits and industry events.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with community organisations and business associations.
  • Drive thought leadership on township entrepreneurship and inclusive growth.
  • Support delivery of workshops, business competitions, mentorship programmes and networking events.
  • Strengthen Nedbank's brand presence within township communities

Data, Insights & Performance Management

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity within township markets.
  • Measure proposition effectiveness and customer outcomes.

Governance & Delivery

  • Manage proposition roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with governance, risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Track initiative benefits and strategic outcomes.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 7) such as:
    • BCom
    • BSc
    • BA Degree
  • Qualification or certification in Product Management will be advantageous.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 3 to 6 years' experience in Client Value Proposition (CVP), Product Management, Strategy, Market Development, Segment Management, or related commercial banking environments.
