Job Purpose
To provide senior financial expertise within the Nedgroup Financial Advisory Finance function by delivering high-quality financial reporting, advanced accounting, and robust financial oversight; enabling informed decision-making and ensuring strong governance and control. The role partners closely with Financial Managers and key stakeholders to strengthen Nedgroup Financial Advisory finance capability, enhance processes, and support the delivery of strategic objectives across the Nedgroup Financial Advisory environment.
Job Responsibilities
Nedgroup Financial Advisory Financial Management & Reporting
- Process and reconcile commission earned by advisors during the month to bank statement(s).
- Perform reconciliations bank statements and bank statements to product provider tapes.
- Analyse commission performance and provide meaningful insights to support decision-making.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of commission-related financial data and reconciliations of key Balance Sheet accounts.
- Prepare accurate financial reporting for the Nedgroup Financial Advisory business, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
- Prepare accurate financial reporting notes for interim and financial year-end.
Investment Accounting & Technical Oversight
- Take ownership of accounting for commission earned, employee costs of advisors including post-retirement benefits related investment portfolios valuations, and related reconciliations.
- Review complex transactions and ensure correct accounting treatment in line with IFRS and relevant standards.
- Act as the technical escalation point for Nedgroup Financial Advisory commission-related accounting queries.
Operational Oversight & Review
- Oversee and review outputs from Financial Officer(s) supporting the Nedgroup Financial Advisory function.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of day-to-day financial processes and reporting deliverables.
- Strengthen controls and improve the quality of financial information produced within the team.
Controls, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements within the investment environment.
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of required schedules and resolution of audit findings.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Nedgroup Financial Advisory operations and IT teams, finance leadership, risk, and compliance stakeholders to support business objectives.
- Provide financial insights and guidance on Nedgroup Financial Advisory performance and implications.
- Participate in key forums and discussions relating to Nedgroup Financial Advisory finance matters.
Process Improvement & Optimisation
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies within Nedgroup Financial Advisory finance.
- Support implementation of system improvements and finance transformation initiatives.
- Drive standardisation and automation of investment reporting processes.
Team Support & Capability Building
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to Financial Officer(s).
- Contribute to building a stronger Nedgroup Financial Advisory finance capability within the team.
- Support the Financial Manager in delivering on operational and strategic finance objectives.
Cross-functional Alignment (WMSA context)
- Collaborate across WMSA finance teams especially, Private Wealth to ensure alignment and consistency in reporting and processes.
- Support structural changes and realignment within the finance function.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- BCom Honours in Accounting / Finance or equivalent

Professional qualification (CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent) advantageous
Minimum Experience Level
- 3 - 5 years in financial management preferably in the financial services industry.

2 years’ experience financial control of Commission based industry and Financial Planning\Wealth Management (advantageous).
