Job Purpose
To generate, analyze, and report reliable, meaningful financial and non-financial information to support the requirements and decision-making of the business, in line with Nedbank's strategy.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end accounting function of the Plastics, Courier, Lockers, and POS (Point-of-Sale-Devices) related expenses of the RBB Card businesses, specifically the following:
- Assess (relative to budget) and approve RBB Operations’ requests for purchasing Plastics / Stationary and courier related services to invoices being loaded onto ARIBA by the OPS team;
- Approve relevant vendor purchase orders / invoices on ARIBA;
- Analyze relevant monthly GL expense accounts towards end of every month by analyzing all individual expense items and categorize each GL item into new stock, sample cards, stationery, and personalization (as aligned to underlying Vendor invoice information) and prepare relevant inputs to Recon file and journals;
- Analyze monthly plastics usage volumes as provided per the CIA usage data and prepare relevant inputs to Recon file and journals;
- Analyze plastic destruction and waste costs, query anomalies with business and prepare relevant inputs to Recon file and journals;
- Update and maintain the Card Plastics Recon file with the latest card purchases and unit costs as derived from GL and Vendor invoices;
- Generate and process the relevant journals for month-end for all related expenses and balance sheet entries including accruals as required;
- Generate expense flash results for Plastics, Courier, and POS related expenses for Working Day 2 submission;
- Analyze flash results relative to budget and other relevant information (stock Recon file, CIA usage data, and Vendor invoices) and investigate any anomalies and variances with RBB Operations team;
- Maintain Balance Sheet provisions and accrual schedules;
- Prepare annual forecasts (Q0 and 3YP) and monthly Rolling Forecasts with specific focus on underlying volumes, unit prices, and other relevant cost information;
- Ensure that reporting deadlines are met to the finance team and stakeholders by adhering to set deadlines;
- Provide required Plastics, Courier, Locker, and POS information for SARB reporting, Annual Pricing considerations, and Transfer Pricing (as and when required);
- Ensure that relevant and accurate information is provided to Group Finance re the IFRS 16 requirements for Lockers;
Job Responsibilities Continue
- Engage on a continuous basis with the RBB Operations and Card Business key stakeholders to remain updated on the various product’s strategy and identify potential financial impacts where applicable;
- Prepare and provide key inputs to the relevant monthly Opcom / business reporting packs as part of monthly Business Reviews;
- Provide formal commentary and interpretation of Card Plastics, Courier, and POS expense related financial information to the Finance Executive and business stakeholders through various reports and analysis;
- Align reporting information to business changes by verifying and updating structural changes;
- Conduct (plan, implement, monitor, and adjust) financial planning process which includes annual budget, 3-year plans, and quarterly forecasts by looking at trends, initiatives, distribution, and cost drivers;
- Prepare financial, non-financial, and ad hoc reports to various stakeholders on a monthly basis by gathering information from various sources and analyzing and interpreting the data;
- Provide advice to stakeholders on profitability by extracting information from various sources, interpreting, and tracking on a monthly basis;
- Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impact on role by reading the relevant newsletters, websites, and attending sessions;
- Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders;
- Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers;
- Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed, experience practiced, and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames;
- Ensure information is provided correctly to stakeholders by maintaining knowledge sharing with team;
- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives by engaging in staff surveys etc.;
- Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies;
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and policies and support implementation of new processes, policies, and systems.
Minimum Experience Level
- 3 - 5 years in financial management preferably in the financial services industry.
- Card or Similar experience
- Attention to Detail: The role requires someone who is acutely interested and focused on detail. This job is very detail-oriented, especially around month-end forecasting and budgets, which demand accuracy.
- Finance Deliverables: The role involves clear finance deliverables, including understanding the General Ledger (GL), considering vendor payments, and making necessary entries.
- Stock Management: The candidate must understand the basics of finance, including capitalizing stock on the balance sheet and managing stock reports from vendors.
- End-to-End Accounting: The role involves end-to-end accounting, with a significant portion of the month dedicated to understanding the GL, vendor costs, and activities around plastics, couriers, lockers, and POS devices.
- Interaction with Business: The role also requires interaction with the business, particularly in the latter half of the month, to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with business strategies.
