Title: Senior Dealer: Central Funding

Job Purpose
Accountable for the end-to-end management of the Bank’s intraday and structural liquidity, with specific responsibility for liquidity arising from bank wide payment and settlement activity.
The role ensures compliance with Industry Settlement rules SARB and liquidity regulations, including Basel III LCR and NSFR, while enabling safe, efficient participation in SAMOS and related market infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
- Optimise the Bank’s daily forecasted liquidity position by monitoring payment flows, wholesale funding, securities and retail settlement and collateral movements.
- Manage intraday liquidity risk, including peak day funding requirements linked to SAMOS settlement cycles and high value market payments.
- Support structural funding optimisation and compliance with Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR).
- Ensure ongoing compliance with industry settlement rules and SARB liquidity regulations and intraday liquidity expectations.
- Maintain liquidity risk frameworks, policies and contingency funding plans.
- Lead liquidity stress testing, including market wide, idiosyncratic and intraday stress.
- Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and processed through the appropriate platforms to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure an overnight balance position meets internal policy requirements.
- Communicate liquidity metrics into clear, actionable insights for senior management.
- Assess liquidity implications of market developments, payment system changes and new business initiatives.
- Provide senior oversight of payment and settlement driven liquidity risk, including prefunding, queues, prioritisation and intraday credit usage.
- Act as senior escalation point for payment related liquidity stress events or settlement disruptions.
- Providing BCP backstop for some internal system problems by utilising settlement process on SAMEXWeb.
- Support ALCO, senior treasury forums and regulatory engagements with relevant liquidity insights.
- Ensure alignment between trading activity, operational settlements and available liquidity.
- Attend to client's requests through open communication, telephone, email,and Bloomberg messenger.
- Participate in industry testing for SWIFT and SAMOS system upgrades.
- Develop trusting internal relationships by communicating with internal stakeholders e.g. informing them on current and expected Cashflows, market intelligence, pricing, and client specific information.
- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders through network building and communication. Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.)
- Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g. Green Strategy). Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
- Contribute to making the department a great place to work through teambuilding activities; communication; improving how we do things to become more efficient / profitable.
- Obtain Management Information System (MIS) data for decision making by generating reports and spreadsheets to manage risk, credit exposures, limits, regulatory, compliance and other requirements.

- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.

- Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.

Essential Qualifications
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- B Comm Degree or equivalent
Essential Certifications
- FSB Regulatory Examinations (RE 1) or ACI Dealing certificate and FAIS requirements
Preferred Experience
- 5 + years of experience in the payments and settlements environment.
Type of Exposure
- Experience in bank intraday liquidity management.
- Strong understanding of SAMOS and Nedbank payments/settlement infrastructure.
