Job Purpose

To contribute to the development of assessment strategies and any relevant models in line with regulations in order to facilitate world class risk management. To develop quantitative models and optimise current models for the evolving and expanding Recovery and Resolution Planning portfolio of the group, and to support the portfolio’s objective to ensure that Nedbank is optimally positioned to contribute meaningfully to the financial stability of the South African domestic financial system.

Job Responsibilities

The role will provide in-depth exposure to the various major risk disciplines, including credit risk, liquidity risk, capital risk, operational risk and stress testing, providing the benefit of building a holistic understanding of financial risk management and developing emerging models and analytical tools in resolution planning, as well as maintaining recovery planning dashboard and analytical tools. This role will also offer the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of facilitating the implementation of industry-changing regulations to promote financial stability, with exposure to all the various business clusters across the Group.

 

The main responsibilities of the role are listed below:

 

  • Assist with the annual update of the Nedbank Group/Nedbank Ltd Recovery Plan and the review of the respective banking subsidiary Recovery Plans.
  • Develop models and analytical tools to support Recovery and Resolution Planning.
  • Optimise and enhance existing models, analytical tools and methodologies, to support and facilitate the implementation of forthcoming resolution standards.
  • Responsible for the submission of resolution planning information templates/ returns to the Resolution Authority and/or the Prudential Authority.
  • Continuing development of the group’s Recovery and Resolution Planning dashboard, incorporating analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of recovery and resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantitative models into recovery and resolution planning processes across the African subsidiaries.
  • Support impact analysis of ongoing regulatory resolution standards and proposals on the Group.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to recovery and resolution planning.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Preferred Qualification

  • Honours degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Econometrics/Finance/Accounting or related quantitative discipline

Minimum Experience Level

  • Three or more years’ experience in developing and implementing models within the financial services industry, preferably in recovery and resolution planning, balance sheet management or capital and liquidity risk management would be beneficial.
