Job Purpose
To provide proactive legal advisory, transaction support, and legal risk management services to Nedbank's Group Technology business. The role supports the delivery of technology, digital transformation, cloud, outsourcing, data privacy, cyber, and innovation initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements
Job Responsibilities
Technology Contracting
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of technology-related agreements, including:
- Software licensing agreements
- SaaS, PaaS and IaaS cloud agreements
- Technology outsourcing agreements
- IT support and maintenance agreements
- Professional services and consulting agreements
- Software development and implementation agreements
- Data processing agreements
- Telecommunications and managed services agreements
- AI and emerging technology-related agreements
Legal Advisory
- Provide practical legal advice on technology, digital, cyber, privacy, data protection, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
- Support business stakeholders in identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks associated with technology initiatives.
- Assist project teams throughout the contract lifecycle from procurement through implementation and operational delivery.
- Advise on legal implications of cloud adoption, data hosting, cross-border data transfers, and digital platform engagements.
Risk Management & Governance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
- Support adherence to applicable banking, privacy, technology, outsourcing, and governance requirements.
- Assist with development of contract standards, legal playbooks, and guidance documents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and contracting efficiencies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Technology, Security, Procurement, Risk, Compliance, and Vendor Management.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve commercial and strategic objectives.
Preferred Experience
Essential
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating technology agreements.
- Exposure to cloud, digital, software licensing, outsourcing, and technology procurement transactions.
- Understanding of data protection and privacy laws, including POPIA principles.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written communication and contract drafting skills.
- Ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (preferred)
Minimum Experience Level
- 3–5 years post-qualification experience.
- At least 2–3 years' experience advising on technology, digital, privacy, or commercial contracting matters.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating technology agreements.
- Experience managing legal matters independently with appropriate supervision.
