Job Purpose

To provide advisory services to Commercial Banking clients which encompasses solutions and services and assisting clients to achieve their strategic goals and to build and grow an advisory business for Nedbank Group.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain working relationships by attending team and relevant forum meetings, sharing expert advice and social engagements.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations. Drive the advancement of collaborative banking solutions.
  • Meet business objectives. Build relationships with identified external stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders. Participate in industry forums.
  • Ensure alignment and achievement of strategy and create a competitive advantage by translating the Nedbank and Business Unit strategy into a customised Divisional strategy.
  • Develop and introduce a people strategy that will create a culture that drives the Cluster and Nedbank's vision and values.
  • Build a high-performance team. Ensure that the leadership agenda has been embraced by the division/function.
  • Manage performance of reports and hold them accountable for managing the performance of their reports.
  • Actively build a culture of improvement Participate in the recruitment and selection of senior staff.
  • Optimise performance and motivation.
  • Empower team to make decisions and recommend tailored solutions to Business Unit specific problems, through coaching and mentoring practices.
  • Ensure the achievement of targets by monitoring implemented Divisional EE and Transformation Plan, analysing and correcting any deviations.
  • Develop and implement and measure the effectiveness of a strategy to build a differentiated culture of improvement and innovation by analysing relevant surveys and information.
  • Manage compliance and conflicting situations. Develop and implement an integrated and Nedbank CIB approved Advisory Strategic Plan. 
  • Identify and mitigate operational risk.
  • Manage risk by adhering to internal and external compliance and governance policies.
  • Continuously enhance quality by reviewing and improving processes, systems and workflows.
  • Drive efficiency. Ensure optimal allocation of resources.
  • Conduct regular and effective team meetings to monitor and evaluate delivery of strategic plan.
  • Originate new transactions or clients for the bank by regular interaction.
  • Oversee and manage transactions in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure relevant continuous pitching to target clients. Grow and/or maintain market share.
  • Develop, engage and execute strategy and business achievement, including cost management to ensure team profitability in line with agreed budget.
  • Monitor market trends by researching and reporting on competitor activity.
  • Grow bank wide profitability.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Preferred Qualification

CA(SA) / CFA / LLB / Masters degree (Commerce, Sciences, Law) / MBA

Essential Certifications

  • Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst

Minimum Experience Level

7 years in Corporate Finance with track record of originating and executing Corporate Finance related transactions, in particular regulated transactions, and 5 years managing others.
