Detailed Job Description
Nedbank is seeking a dynamic and strategic thinker to join our HR Transformation team as a Group Specialist in People Data Analytics. If you're passionate about unlocking commercial impact through data-driven solutions and have a deep understanding of people analytics, we want to hear from you. As a Group Specialist, you will partner with HR Product Owners to solve complex business challenges through people data and analytics. From designing data strategies to delivering predictive insights, this role requires both technical depth and a storytelling mindset to make data meaningful for business decision-making.
Role Purpose
Strategically partner our HR Product Owners to assess the key business and HR Product & Service challenges to be solved by people data and analytics & translate these requirements into data driven solutions for the area. Work on high value & high complexity data challenges & leverage deep data science expertise (e.g. big data, advanced statistics, data wrangling, data mining, data analysis, predictive modelling, storytelling, data visualization, machine learning, AI, data intuition) to operationalise & continuously improve people data solutions that deliver relevant, quality assured, accurate & commercially impactful data to the business.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across HR and business units to identify data challenges and build holistic solutions.
- Translate ambiguous business asks into tangible data models and visualization tools.
- Apply advanced data science techniques including machine learning, predictive modelling, and data mining.
- Drive people data strategy aligned to short-, medium-, and long-term product goals.
- Deliver commercially relevant insights that improve workforce experience and optimization.
- Ensure data integrity and quality assurance across all analytics outputs.
- Champion data literacy across the HR community and coach stakeholders on maximizing impact.
- Participate actively in agile delivery teams and support transformation initiatives.
Minimum Experience Level
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science (Advanced degree preferred).
- 6–8 years in analytics, BI, or data science, with at least 1–2 years in people analytics.
- Proven track record of driving business impact through data solutions.
- Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, Qlik, SAP BW/SAP4HANA, Visier, and cloud platforms.
- Experience in scripting languages (Python, R, SQL, Scala, etc.) and big data technologies.
- Strong grasp of machine learning concepts and data visualization techniques.
- Agile and DevOps working knowledge desirable.
