Job Purpose

To manage the financial operations of the Practice Model within the Personal and Private Banking cluster, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial support.

The role includes oversight of commission-based revenue, financial statements, tax submissions, and stakeholder engagement across multiple legal entities.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain a monthly list of commission files received from multiple product providers and ensure timely processing.
  • Perform daily reconciliations of commission files and resolve unreconciled items promptly.
  • Clear bank accounts regularly and investigate outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and submit VAT 201 returns and provisional tax calculations via e-filing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Compile financial statements in accordance with IFRS and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations with no long-outstanding items.
  • Oversee payroll-related processes for financial planners, including commission payments and schedule validations.
  • Ensure financial and business information is audit-ready and supported by strong internal controls.
     

Audit & Reporting

  • Lead audit management processes, including coordination of audit requests, managing RFIs, and ensuring timely submission of supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and present monthly, interim, and year-end financial reports with insightful commentary on variances to budget and prior year.
  • Ensure all journals are captured before ledger close-off and numbers are ready for flash reporting.
  • Develop and maintain management packs and MANCO slides with value-adding insights.
  • Support the preparation of three-year plans, Q0 forecasts, and rolling forecasts aligned with business expectations.
     

Business Partnering & Forecasting

  • Engage regularly with key stakeholders (e.g., regional heads, product leads, investment specialists) to provide financial insights and performance updates.
  • Monitor and report on key KPIs for each stakeholder and hold them accountable for financial performance.
  • Identify and address revenue leakages and inefficiencies in the business model.
  • Track profitability of financial planners & wealth managers and compare against employment models.
  • Provide financial guidance to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
     

Practice Model Oversight

  • Manage the financials of independent practices operating under Nedbank’s license, ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the finance lead for these legal entities, overseeing tax submissions, financial statements, and monthly VAT returns.
  • Ensure that practices adhere to Nedbank’s governance standards while maintaining financial independence.
  • Support the growth and sustainability of the practice model through sound financial management and advisory.
     

Leadership & Development

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior finance staff (Finance Officer, Senior Finance Administrator).
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to succession planning and the development of future finance leaders within the team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in transformation and culture-building initiatives aligned with Nedbank’s strategic goals.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Essential Qualification

  • Chartered Accountant

Minimum Experience Level

  • 1–2 years post-articles experience, preferably in a commercial environment.
  • Strong IFRS and SARS knowledge.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (Power BI awareness beneficial).
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and audit management.
     

Preferred

  • Experience in financial services or commission-driven environments.
  • Exposure to practice-based financial models or legal entity management.
