Job Overview

The Finance Executive of Consolidations and Group Financial Control is responsible for overseeing the financial consolidation process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of group financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with international accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP). This role also includes leading the Record to Report (R2R) process, ensuring seamless financial close and reporting. Additionally, the role involves managing a team of finance professionals, driving process improvements, and enhancing financial governance across the group.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Record to Report (R2R) Process Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end Record to Report (R2R) process, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely financial close.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations.
  • Drive automation and process improvements to enhance the speed and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial control policies.
  • Collaborate with Group Business Services and Cluster finance teams to optimize the R2R workflow.

 

2.    Group Consolidation & Financial Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial consolidation process for the Group.
  • Ensure timely and accurate group financial results in compliance with IFRS.
  • Oversee accounting transactions and processes at a Group consolidated level.
  • Review and analyze consolidated group financial results, identifying key trends, variances, and risks.
  • Coordinate with Cluster finance teams to resolve consolidation and reporting issues.
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting processes, ensuring standardization across the group.
  • Collaborate with the Finance ExecutiveHead: Reporting for reporting to Group Exco, Group Audit Committee.
  • Support key business objectives and strategies that impact the group structure including those achieved through mergers and acquisitions transactions.
  • Oversee the consolidation of the Group’s management accounting (RaPM).
  • Oversee the accounting and the utilisation of cash resources of the Group’s holding company including providing loans, making dividend payments, acquisitions, restructures, and other financing and investing activities.

 

3.    Financial Control & Compliance

  • Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of accounting policies, ensuring consistency across the group.
  • Oversee the external audit  and financial statement preparation process.
  • Monitor adherence to statutory reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Monitor internal controls to mitigate risks and enhance financial governance.

4.    Process Improvement & Systems Optimization

  • Continuously improve financial consolidation, R2R, and reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive automation initiatives in financial reporting, consolidation, and R2R systems (e.g., SAP S4, SAP Disclosure Management).
  • Implement best practices in financial control and governance.
  • Work with IT and finance transformation teams to enhance ERP and financial systems.

 

5.    Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Executive: Group Financial Control, CFO, and Finance Form, on financial control matters.
  • Liaise with Cluster finance teams, treasury, and risk management to ensure a holistic approach to financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on financial data and analysis.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with reporting standards and internal controls.

 

6.    Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of consolidation, financial reporting, and R2R professionals.
  • Set clear objectives, provide regular performance feedback, and conduct annual appraisals.
  • Ensure continuous development of the team through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Allocate responsibilities effectively to maximize efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA in Finance or professional certifications (CA(SA) or CFA) is highly desirable.

 

Experience:

  • 5–10 years of experience in Consolidations and Financial Control or related financial roles within the financial services sector.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the financial consolidation process.
  • Track record of collaborating with senior leadership in a matrixed environment.
