Job Purpose

The Data Executive will be responsible for leading the data strategy, modernisation journey and governance for NCIB. This role involves overseeing the collection, management, and storage of data, ensuring data quality and security, and identifying and driving opportunities to drive business insights, decisions and commercial value creation. The executive will work closely with various enterprise organisations to ensure data is used effectively to support NCIB’s goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the NCIB data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise strategy.
  • Lead Product Ownership for the modernised collection, management, and storage of data across the NCIB, in line the enterprise standards, patterns and policies.
  •  Lead CIB’s Data Management Office, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security, complying with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to the development of group data governance policies and procedures and lead the implementation thereof for NCIB, in line the enterprise guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Group IT and the group CDAO organisation to ensure data infrastructure supports business needs.
  • Lead the remediation of legacy data capability to the modern enterprise data patterns.
  • Manage a team of data professionals, providing guidance and support for their development aligned to HR policy and requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in data management and analytics.
  • Leveraging data assets and NCIB and bank-wide analytics capabilities to support decision-making processes and drive business growth and innovation.
    • Collaborate with business and data community to analyze competitive landscape to identify data gaps and opportunities for commericalisable data-driven products and services.
    • Support analytics teams across NCIB to make most effective and efficient use of data and analytics capabilities to deliver their needs.
    • Oversee the development of data products from concept to launch.
    • Collaborate with IT and legal teams to ensure data privacy and compliance.
    • Ensure products meet business, customer needs and regulatory requirements.
    • Track and report on the performance of data products.
    • Use insights to drive continuous improvements of capability and offerings.
       

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

Essential Certifications

  • DAMA certified data management professional (CDMP) or similar data management certification

Minimum Experience Level

  • 10 years working experience in a senior / executive position with data and data analytics experience
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and snr stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience in a senior data management role, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Good commercial sense with ability to build and track solid business cases and make clear, quantifiable trade-off decisions
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data management in the banking industry an advantage.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security practices.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and technologies.
  • Experience with big data technologies and platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, team management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
