Job Purpose

Own and drive the delivery of credit-related capabilities, systems, and strategic initiatives across the lending value chain. Act as the bridge between Business, Credit, Risk, Technology, Analytics, and Operations to ensure that business requirements are translated into high-quality solutions that deliver customer, risk, and commercial outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

Own and Manage the Credit Product Roadmap

  • Define, maintain, and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for credit-related capabilities across the lending value chain.
  • Prioritise product initiatives and backlog items to ensure alignment with business objectives, customer needs, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive value realisation by ensuring credit product enhancements deliver measurable commercial, operational, and customer outcomes.

 

Lead Requirements Definition and Solution Design

  • Engage with business, credit, risk, operations, analytics, and technology stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Facilitate workshops and design sessions to ensure requirements are well-defined, agreed upon, and development-ready.

 

Drive End-to-End Delivery of Credit Initiatives

  • Lead the delivery of credit transformation, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives from concept through implementation and post-production validation.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues across multiple teams, ensuring delivery remains on track and aligned to agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Support testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation activities, and production readiness to ensure high-quality solutions.

 

Collaborate Across the Credit Ecosystem

  • Act as the primary liaison between Credit, Risk, Business, Technology, Data & Analytics, Compliance, and Operations teams.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making to achieve alignment on product priorities and delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of credit decisioning systems, workflows, data sources, and lending platforms across the end-to-end credit lifecycle.

 

Monitor, Optimise, and Govern Credit Solutions

  • Evaluate product performance, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes using data-driven insights and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance credit processes, decisioning strategies, system functionality, and customer experience.
  • Ensure all credit solutions comply with governance standards, regulatory requirements, and internal risk and control frameworks.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Business Analysis certification (advantageous).
  • Agile Product Owner or Scrum Product Owner certification (advantageous).
  • SAFe certification (advantageous).
  • Banking or Credit-specific qualifications (advantageous).

Minimum Experience Level

Banking and Credit Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years' experience within banking, financial services, or credit environments.
  • Proven experience working within credit products and credit decisioning ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of retail banking lending products, including: 

o    Personal Loans
o    Credit Cards
o    Overdrafts
o    Vehicle and Asset Finance
o    Home Loans (highly advantageous)

  • Experience working across the credit lifecycle, including: 

o    Origination
o    Underwriting
o    Decisioning
o    Pricing
o    Account management
o    Collections and recoveries

Product and Delivery Experience

  • Experience operating as a Product Owner, Senior Business Analyst, Product Manager, or similar role.
  • Experience delivering complex technology, data, or credit transformation initiatives.
  • Proven track record of managing delivery across multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Experience managing requirements from concept through to production implementation.

Systems Experience

  • Experience working with credit decision engines, workflow systems, or lending platforms.
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, data flows, and business processes.
  • Ability to engage effectively with architects, developers, testers, analysts, and operational teams.
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
