Credit Manager

Job Purpose

To recommend and or grant credit in order to place quality assets on to the book and continued risk management of the portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend relevant committee meetings for presentation of papers of credit applications
  • Ensure that work is delivered according to plan by monitoring progress against required objectives (client expectations, turn around times, targets, service level agreements, quality of assessment) and taking remedial action where necessary
  • Validate client and supporting information by assessing the contents of the documents
  • Analyse actual need requirements and assess credit applications  
  • Approve funding by making decision based on the credit policy guideline and credit norms in conjunction with relevant Nedbank strategy and the analysis based on the information provided                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               
  • Conduct client visitations as per the credit policy, as well as when required                                        
  • Finalise credit applications to ensure that the required professional standard of submission is maintained       
  • Ensure processes are actioned within mandated signatories by checking and confirming the sign off
  • Effective risk management inclusive of portfolio monitoring and management 
  • Identify early warning signals in client behaviour, industry or markets that are indicative of change in risk profile
  • Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management
  • Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe
  • Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interactions
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank culture bui

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Accounting, Management Accounting and Finance

Minimum Experience Level

  •  3- 5 years business and practical credit experience
