Job Purpose

To recommend credit to place quality assets on to the book and continued risk management across Nedbank.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate client and supporting information by assessing the contents of the documents.
  • Proactive Portfolio Management ensuring client ratings are updated in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the portfolio dashboard is dynamically managed to always ensure correctness.
  • Oversee capturing of financial statements and ratings models. Scrutiny of the outputs to ensure correctness.
  • Analyse credit applications by assessing serviceability of the funding applied for. 
  • Ensure Credit Applications are aligned to Nedbank’s Credit Policy and supported to the correct Mandated Authority. 
  • Approve funding by making decision based on the credit policy guideline in conjunction with relevant Nedbank strategy and the analysis based on the information provided.
  • Manage daily excesses in a timely manner and ensure the correct mandated approval received.

  • Presentation of Credit Application to the respective Mandated Committees.
  • Undertake Ad-Hoc projects when needed (example climate risk reporting).
  • Mentoring new joiners and learners rotating through the team.
  • Ability to manage stress and timelines.
     

Job Responsibilities continue

  • Actively manage self-development by identifying training courses, on-the-job training and manage career progression with the aid of input and feedback from management.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders by providing a range of specialized credit risk management advisory services.
  • Together with the Business counterparts manage client expectations by operating within the specified parameters and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Enhance processes, policies and procedures by recommending and making submissions to the relevant parties.
  • Adapt to changes in Legislation by providing input to redesigning credit processes and systems where applicable.
  • Ensure processes are actioned within mandated signatories by checking and confirming the sign off.
  • Manage daily activities of direct reports by monitoring the staff output.
  • Manage performance and build the intellectual capital of the team by conducting on the job training, counselling and coaching.
  • Keeping abreast of developments within the sector and the clients within the portfolio.
  • Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned.
  • Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
  • Ensure all personal development plan activities, including mandatory training and courses are completed within specified timeframe.
  • Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
  • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc).
  • Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy.
  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
     

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Relevant post graduate qualification.

Preferred Certifications

  • Chartered Accountant, master's in business administration, CFA, CIMA

Minimum Experience Level

  • 2-3 years practical Credit Experience writing and submitting credit applications
  • Previous Project Financing experience preferable.
