Job Purpose
- To provide oversight and perform an advisory function on the adherence to compliance practices in client facing clusters to ensure compliance risks are managed and reported across Nedbank.
Job Responsibilities
•Ensure compliance risks are managed by developing an annual risk- based compliance monitoring programme across client facing clusters.
•Monitor compliance risks and determine the state of compliance in client facing clusters through utilising relevant methodology (e.g. state of compliance review or efficiency and effectiveness testing).
•Ensure compliance requirements are adhered to and adequate compliance risk management practices implemented by tracking key compliance risks in client facing clusters and through conducting monthly reviews.
•Monitor compliance risks and ensure corrective action through analysis of compliance related information.
•Provide input, review and ensure accurate reporting and articulation of compliance risks
•Provide guidance in the completion of subsidiary compliance risk monitoring programmes
•Influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies
•Present findings of compliance reviews to stakeholders through formal engagement.
•Execute the annual compliance risk-based programme by assessing and monitoring the adequacy and completeness of compliance plans implemented by stakeholders.
•Provide assurance to stakeholders on the state of compliance by reporting on how key risks are being managed, highlighting areas that require immediate attention and recommend corrective action to stakeholders.
•Support the achievement of business strategy
•Establish relationships with stakeholders.
•Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will add value to stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
•Provide advice and/or input to internal stakeholders on possible contraventions of compliance risks through early detection of such contraventions.
•Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders by establishing partnerships in managing compliance risks.
•Engage with stakeholders formally through determining scope of work, understanding and identifying client needs.
•Maintain relationships with stakeholders by keeping them informed of any compliance risk related matters that may compromise their business.
•Comment on mitigating actions to be implemented by stakeholders through assessment of the adequacy thereof and recommend further corrective action (e.g. documenting policies and processes, etc.).
•Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
•Ensure personal growth and application of new competence in function by completing all personal development plan activities within specified timeframes.
•Ensure relevant up skilling takes place and effective handover to relevant responsible person for actioning
•Contribute to a culture conducive for the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
LLB
Post graduate diploma in Compliance Risk Management
Preferred Certifications
Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA)
Minimum Experience Level
3-5 years’ experience in a compliance related role within the financial services industry
