Job Purpose

The Junior Analyst provides entry-level support to the compliance function by assisting with administrative tasks, basic monitoring activities, and data collection. This role gives early-career professionals exposure to Nedbank’s compliance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and business processes.

Junior Analysts contribute to operational efficiency by ensuring compliance registers, reports, and records are maintained accurately, while learning to apply foundational compliance principles. It is designed as a development role within Nedbank’s compliance architecture, preparing incumbents for progression into Compliance Officer roles.

Job Responsibilities

Administrative & Record-Keeping Support

  • Maintain compliance logs, registers, and filing systems to ensure up-to-date and accurate documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling compliance reviews, audits, and training sessions.
  • Provide administrative support in preparing compliance reports and presentations.

Data Collection & Reporting Assistance

  • Gather and validate compliance data from business units for analysis and reporting.
  • Assist Analysts in preparing dashboards and management packs.
  • Support the preparation of draft reports by compiling supporting data.

Monitoring Assistance

  • Support compliance monitoring reviews by gathering evidence and documenting preliminary findings.
  • Follow up with business units to collect missing information.
  • Maintain monitoring records and update remediation trackers.

Incident & Breach Tracking Support

  • Assist with logging compliance incidents, breaches, and complaints.
  • Maintain and update incident registers under supervision.
  • Escalate unresolved or sensitive matters to management.

Learning & Development

  • Participate actively in training and mentorship to build compliance knowledge.
  • Gain exposure to basic regulatory requirements (FICA, FAIS, POPIA).
  • Develop skills and experience to progress into a Compliance Officer role.

Support Control Room

  • Maintaining insider information records, restricted and watch lists, information barriers, and processing compliance clearances to promote regulatory compliance and market integrity 

Minimum Experience Level

  • 1 –2 years’ compliance exposure in a Financial or Banking environment

Advantageous Requirements:

  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • Exposure to regulatory concepts through coursework or internships.
    Familiarity with data management systems or compliance tools.

Preferred Qualification

  • NQF Level 7 or higher in a Law, Risk, Finance, Business, or related field
