Job Purpose

To drive and integrate the end-to-end digital strategy across CIB by ensuring the alignment of business strategy and technology execution, and translating strategic priorities into a coordinated, prioritised, and value-driven book of work.

The role is accountable for digital outcomes across CIB, including digital channels, data and analytics, business transformation leveraging AI, sales-and-service enablement, and operates within a joint business–technology delivery to deliver commercial outcomes, superior client outcomes, and operational efficiencies.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic development and execution

 

  • Function as custodian of the CIB digital strategy and roadmap
    • Define a digital strategy/vision which creates a common understanding, to support collective decision making on resource allocation.
    • Develop a digital roadmap with 3-, 5- and 10-year views on how digital will transform the bank.
    • Translate strategy into a prioritised, executable digital book of work.
    • Align digital investment to client, revenue, and efficiency objectives.
  • Ensure there is a symbiotic relationship between business and digital strategy to deliver client value.
  • Integrate an approach with the rest of the Bank to working closely on Juristic capabilities, as is appropriate and, and jointly develop common platforms.
  • Parter with Group Technology to co-own digital and technology delivery outcome, align prioritisation and drive integrated performance management.

 

Optimal structure and resources

 

  • Establish and manage a centralised demand management capability across CIB. Drive prioritisation and investment decisions aligned to business value.
  • Make use of a common strategy and roadmap to guide resource allocation – with a deliberate balance between maintenance (health), rationalisation, compliance, modernisation and innovation.
  • Embed the above into a delivery operating model which solves for the need and understanding of capabilities and demand required at a BU-level.
  • Ensure CIB’s overall approach is co-designed with Group Technology.
  • Ensure capability maturity, alignment and delivery against CIB strategic objectives.
  • Drive adoption of digital capabilities across business units.
  • Align performance metrics, governance and ways of working across domains.

 

AI, Innovation and Transformation

 

  • Define and execute the CIB AI and innovation strategy.
  • Drive maturity of data, analytics and AI capabilities across CIB.
  • Establish clear data ownership, governance and value measurement.
  • Enable the adoption of Artificial intelligence and advanced analytics in business processes.
  • Ensure delivery of scalable, responsible and value-driven innovation.
  • Align digital capability development to long-term strategic objectives.
  • Contract with GT on an approach that maintains enterprise infrastructure, security and technical patterns whilst enabling CIB to autonomously execute day-to-day, and project-based data engineering.
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise standards and responsible AI practices

 

Technical Health of CIB’s data, projects and digital systems

 

  • Strengthening the digital control environment by ensuring visibility of risks and improving delivery discipline.
  • Ongoing modernisation and simplification of the CIB technology platforms and landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements during design and execution
  • Improve system stability, resilience and reliability. 

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Honours Degree

Preferred Qualification

  • A relevant Honours degree or higher qualification is essential with preference for a computer science or engineering component

Minimum Experience Level

  • 10 to 15 years experience in digital transformation leadership within financial services and delivery of large-scale technology-enabled change.
  • Proven executive leadership experience in complex, matrix environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in business–technology integration.
  • A fundamental understanding of the commercial, digital and data technicalities of corporate and investment banking.
  • Proven successful leadership in managing a digital strategy in a business of a comparable level of complexity as Nedbank CIB.
  • A thorough understanding of the technology underpinning the business, the use of technology to deliver client solutions and the design and implementation of the technology strategy for the business viz.
