Job Purpose

The Business Office Manager serves as a trusted strategic partner to the Information Technology Executive, enabling the effective execution of business priorities, operational excellence, governance, and organisational performance. The role is accountable for integrating strategy, planning, financial oversight, governance, stakeholder engagement, and leadership enablement across the function.

 

Acting as the central coordination point between the Executive, leadership team, and key stakeholders, the Business Office Manager drives alignment, transparency, decision-making, and execution, ensuring that strategic objectives are translated into measurable outcomes while maintaining robust governance, operational discipline, and business effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Business Management & Performance Enablement

  • Partner with the Executive and leadership team to translate strategic priorities into actionable business plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Drive the annual business planning, objective-setting, and performance management processes across the function.
  • Establish and manage operating rhythms, governance forums, and management cadences that support effective decision-making and accountability.
  • Monitor strategic initiatives, key performance indicators (KPIs), objectives, risks, dependencies, and organisational commitments.
  • Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, insights, and management reporting that enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness, operational efficiency, and business performance.
  • Support organisational transformation, change initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.

 

 

Executive Advisory & Leadership Enablement

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the Executive on business, operational, and organisational matters.
  • Drive prioritisation and coordination of executive objectives, activities, and leadership commitments.
  • Prepare high-impact executive presentations, board submissions, briefing documents, business updates, and communication materials.
  • Facilitate leadership forums through agenda management, content preparation, decision tracking, and follow-through.
  • Support leadership effectiveness by monitoring business priorities, strategic commitments, and performance outcomes.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information with the highest levels of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
  • Enable effective communication and alignment across leadership teams and broader stakeholder communities.

 

 

Governance, Risk & Compliance Management

  • Lead the administration and effectiveness of governance frameworks, forums, and decision-making structures.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise governance standards, policies, regulatory obligations, and internal controls.
  • Track and report on audit actions, risk mitigation plans, regulatory commitments, and compliance obligations.
  • Facilitate timely escalation of risks, issues, and control weaknesses.
  • Maintain governance artefacts, decision registers, policy repositories, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and sound risk management practices across the function.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Support strategic budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and cost management activities.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and ensure appropriate financial governance.
  • Produce financial performance reports and management insights for executive decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, value realisation, and commercial efficiency.
  • Support business case development, investment assessments, and funding governance processes.
  • Coordinate vendor-related governance and commercial oversight activities where applicable.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Organisational Communication

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, business executives, enterprise partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a key interface between Information Technology and broader organisational functions.
  • Drive communication strategies and engagement plans that support business priorities and change initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent and effective dissemination of strategic, operational, and leadership communications.
  • Facilitate alignment across multiple teams to achieve shared business objectives and outcomes.
  • Build credibility and influence at all organisational levels through trusted partnership and relationship management.

 

 

Portfolio, Programme & Initiative Coordination

  • Oversee the coordination and execution of strategic initiatives, transformation programmes, and executive-sponsored projects.
  • Provide visibility of progress, key milestones, dependencies, risks, and delivery outcomes.
  • Drive accountability for commitments and proactively resolve barriers to successful execution.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration and alignment among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective reporting, governance, and management of programme-related documentation and artefacts.
  • Monitor benefits realisation and strategic value delivery across initiatives.

 

 

Knowledge Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and sustain effective knowledge management disciplines across the function.
  • Promote collaboration, information sharing, and organisational learning.
  • Ensure accurate management, accessibility, and retention of critical business information.
  • Capture and communicate achievements, lessons learned, innovations, and best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, operational maturity, and organisational effectiveness.

 

 

Leadership Operations & Business Administration

  • Coordinate executive leadership engagements, strategy workshops, planning sessions, town halls, and organisational events.
  • Oversee executive travel, logistics, and administrative support requirements where required.
  • Ensure efficient management of business operational processes, documentation, and resource coordination.
  • Support workforce planning, organisational management, and leadership team effectiveness activities.
  • Maintain oversight of operational calendars, key milestones, and critical business deliverables.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in:

  • Business Management
  • Commerce
  • Finance
  • Operations Management
  • Information Systems
  • Or a related discipline

Preferred Qualification

  • Postgraduate Qualification in Business Administration, Leadership, Strategy, or Management.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe or equivalent).
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • Change Management Certification.
  • Financial Management or Business Analysis Certification.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 8-10 years' experience in Business Management, Business Operations, Strategy Execution, Executive Office, Chief of Staff, PMO, or related leadership support functions.
  • Experience supporting C-suite executives, Managing Executives, CIOs, COOs, or senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in governance, executive reporting, financial management, stakeholder management, and organisational performance management.
  • Experience operating within complex, matrixed organisations.

Preferred

  • Financial Services or Banking industry experience.
  • Information Technology or Digital business environment experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation, technology, or business change initiatives.
  • Proven experience engaging executive and board-level stakeholders.
