Business Analyst Specialist

Job Purpose
To enable change by defining the needs and the rationale for change, to understand the current state, to define the future state, and to determine the activities required to move from the current to the future state by applying the principles of business analysis, according to the requirements classification schema, from a diverse array of multi-functional perspectives with an agile mindset. Complete complex tasks or larger, well-scoped challenges independently and identify appropriate actions that have been provided to address a business challenge. Pair with Product Designers (CX/UX), Business Architects, Testers (QA), Business data Managers (BDM), Software Developers, Process Engineers and key roles in the requirements value chain.
Job Responsibilities
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, align requirements to product strategy, roadmap, metrics, and program backlog, model data and processes visually, and support dependency and enterprise‑level delivery.
- Align requirements to the full program and team backlog while leading adaptive planning, estimation, monitoring, and coordination of BA activities for large or complex initiatives.
- Conduct stakeholder elicitation, structure and model requirements, analyse current vs future states, define solution scope, decompose epics/features/stories, document requirements across processes, data, interfaces, constraints, and non‑functional needs.
- Decompose epics, features, themes and ownership of analysis, story writing and acceptance criteria writing throughout the requirements value chain.
- Assess solution performance and value, identify gaps, remove constraints, reduce waste, minimise rework, and address risks and issues early.
- Drive minimum viable thinking, continuous deployment, integration and actively support the team in working on impediments and spikes and enabler epics, enabler stories, and synthesize the data to articulate requirements. Ensure early remediation by reducing waste, rework, identify risks and issues.
- Use AI to uncover hidden patterns, validate flows, enhance quality, automate documentation, and support decision‑making. Apply AI‑based modelling assistants for process flows, data flows, and user stories.
- Work closely with designers, architects, testers, developers, process Engineers, Agile Project Managers, Product Owners and Technical Product Owners. Contribute to squad ceremonies, backlog refinement, prioritisation, WSJF, PI planning, DevOps enablement, and built‑in quality practices.
- Execute according to IIBA best practices, agile product delivery and lean principles based on Nedbank's delivery approach as per the BA methods, frameworks, standards, tools, techniques, competencies and practices.
- Support Testing, Demos, Change Readiness and User Enablement. Conduct system demos, support training (train‑the‑trainer), and contribute to retrospectives and improvement initiatives.

Apply the principles of Product Ownership Analysis and the strategy-to-execution framework. In addition, the role requires leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine‑learning‑enabled tools to accelerate analysis, improve requirements quality, enhance solution evaluation, automate documentation, support decision‑making, and uncover insights across processes, data and stakeholder interactions.

Certificate in BA endorsed by IIBA , SAFe and Agile Certification
Minimum Experience Level
5 - 8 years BA experience, manage multiple IT Projects and exposure to complex projects, business exposure, industry exposure. Guiding others on how to effectively use common techniques. Demonstrate these skilled proficiency descriptors.
