Job Purpose

To provide business intelligence analysis through performing strategic and operational support. To design, develop, implement and maintain database and business intelligence solutions, ensuring data integrity, quality, security and accessibility to support effective business decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Structure data into compliance standards by adhering to metadata governance procedures according to Nedbank documented standards and formats.
  • Manage final transformed data content by complying to prescribed standards for reviewing and publishing.
  • Assist/govern population of datamart and metadata repository by complying to standards, systems, processes and procedures.
  • Support business units by providing consulting services that deliver data and information relevant to their business.
  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Server databases and business intelligence solutions.
  • Develop, maintain and support SSIS ETL processes to ensure reliable data integration and transformation.
  • Build and support Power BI dashboards, reports and data models that provide meaningful business insights.
  • Deliver work according to customer expectations by prioritising, planning and implementing requirements.
  • Utilise resources by adhering to standards, policies and procedures.
  • Align and continuously improve set processes by identifying innovation opportunities.
  • Identify and mitigate risk by executing within governance.
  • Resolve incidents by logging and tracking through correct channels.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and data quality assessments to improve data reliability and reporting accuracy.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impact the role.
  • Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interactions with team and stakeholders.
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise through continuous learning and development.
  • Ensure information is provided correctly to stakeholders through effective knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank culture-building initiatives.
  • Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems and policies and support implementation of new processes, policies and systems.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Diploma

Preferred Qualification

  • Degree in Information Technology,Business Management, Mathematical/Statistics or similar

Minimum Experience Level

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in data management, business intelligence, data engineering or analytics environments.
  • Proven experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise business intelligence and reporting solutions.
  • Minimum 6 years' hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced T-SQL development and database optimisation.
  • Strong experience developing, maintaining and supporting SSIS ETL solutions and data integration processes.
  • Demonstrated experience building and supporting Power BI data models, dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Experience working within Financial Services, Banking or other highly regulated industries will be advantageous.

  • Advanced SQL Server development, including T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • SSIS development, ETL design, scheduling and troubleshooting
  • Power BI data modelling, dashboard development and reporting
