Job Purpose
The primary undertaking of the role is to leverage data to drive strategic initiatives and improve operational efficiency within the organisation. To understand the business environment and requirements in order to assist in creating and improving systems and processes for analysing data and generating reports; provide useful insights and analytics to stakeholders for operational, tactical and strategic business application, in alignment with Nedbank’s strategic focus.
Job Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team of data analysts to improve the management, reporting, usage and processing of data, to ensure the BI teams' ability to respond quickly to business information requests and promote high performance.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement - experience with stakeholder engagement across various levels of management, as the incumbent will work closely with various business units as the BI support partner, eliciting requirements, aligning and delivering data and information relevant to their business units and representation on projects.
- Contribute to and support key reports, business performance metrics and SAS extracts. Utilise BI capabilities for the optimisation, automation and delivery of a portfolio reports, SAS scripts, and maintenance of reporting tools.
- Data Analysis, Interpretation and Visualisation – creation and distribution of reports and dashboards. Identify trends and patterns in data for input into actionable business outcomes. Must have extensive knowledge and experience in building data visualisations using tools such as Power BI.
- Programming / Coding - Ability to use scripting languages such as SAS, SQL, Python or R for data analysis and manipulation, to solve complex business problems and provide insights to enable data driven decision making.
- Ownership of the pipeline of work - validation of business rules and data outputs on all reporting. Identify and address data anomalies / discrepancies by tracking issues from their origin to the final reports.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to data governance principles like the documentation of the reporting framework.
- Development of new and ad-hoc analytics and reports, as well as enhancements in Power BI.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- Degree in Information Technology / Advanced IT Diploma or similar tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics / Statistics.
Minimum Experience Level
- 8 years relevant experience of which at least 5+ years’ experience is in a business intelligence analyst role.
- 4+ years strong technical knowledge and skills in SAS, Power BI, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- 2+ years’ experience using and building data visualisations in Power BI (including DAX coding)
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience using SAS / SQL to extract and manipulate data for reporting and insights.
- Expertise in analysing data sets, creating data visualisations and quantitative analysis.
- Experience in other data visualisation tools and working with data on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is advantageous.
- Experienced in data analytics and reporting, data quality and data-storytelling skills.
