Job Purpose

To maximize sustainable revenue streams by assisting in the origination and driving the implementation of profitable complex structured finance solutions with targeted clients of the bank related to mezzanine lending and equity commercial property transactions in line with the Nedbank business strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Achieve  sustainable financial results by assisting in the effective origination and acquisition of equity investments and mezzanine funding opportunities in the Real Estate Sector and achieving allocated financial budgets and targets.
  • Structure; implement; monitor and manage deals; taking corrective, value enhancing action when required; compiling and pitching presentations to new and existing clients; running the relevant models to ensure the deal is appropriately priced, compiling investment papers for presentation to Investment Committee and working with Property Finance, Finance, Legal and other stakeholders on the implementation of deals.
  • Cross-sell complimentary products offered by Nedbank by keeping abreast of Nedbank's offerings in terms of quality; cost; business expectations and compliance.
  • Contribute to improved client service, develop strong relationships with new and existing clients and meet and exceed client needs constantly, by maintaining open channels of communication with internal stakeholders and ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Ensure the effective and appropriate execution of transactions; complying with risk standards and adhering to policies; procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake semi-annual reviews of each investment, updating the committee on progress and highlighting identified risks.
  • Improve deal origination by providing multidisciplinary solutions; identifying and resolving work problems and delivering the required output to clients; and refining and enhancing coverage.
  • Develop collaborative client and internal relationships by providing high quality advice; execution; and delivery on new and existing transactions meeting business needs.
  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying, recommending and implementing effective ways to operate.
  • Participate and support corporate responsibility and other initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g. Sustainability Strategy).
  • Manage costs and contribute to Business Unit cost efficiency by operating within the allocated budget.
  • Ensure the SPV's with which we are involved in comply with the legislation in so far as regulatory, company secretary and accounting practices are concerned. 

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • BCom/BSC in Property studies or equivalent financial qualification
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

Essential Certifications

  • Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst

Minimum Experience Level

4-6 years’ experience in commercial Property Finance; Equity and/or Mezzanine Debt; Investment Banking and Sales; and/ or Property Development.
