Job Purpose
To conceptualise, identify, develop and execute profitable private equity transactions aligned with Nedbank’s business strategy, within Nedbank Corporate & Investment Banking, in order to meet client needs and drive revenue for the bank.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct financial, company or sector related research, analysis and due diligence on potential investments in order to provide input into the decision-making process.
- Assist senior origination team to meet and exceed financial and cross sell targets by creating impactful collaborative efforts and solutions across the CIB cluster
- Assist in executing transactions by assisting in structuring, analysing, negotiating, managing and pitching for new to bank deals.
- Deliver structured funding solutions to meet requirements of existing and potential clients.
- Contribute to the preparation of investment papers (applications, memos, updates, reviews) by conducting historical financial analysis, financial modelling & debt and equity scoping with related commentary, industry & competitor analysis and identifying and mitigating, structural and credit risks.
- Utilise research and analysis to build models and generate forecasts on potential transactions enabling the team to present detailed, relevant information to key decision-making forums.
- Build and maintain sound professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders through networking with contact base to contribute to identifying market opportunities and creating deal flow.
- Build effective relationships with senior management stakeholders by maintaining open channels of communication and by providing high quality input, execution and delivery on business needs.
- Contribute to conceptualising innovative client solutions and enhanced product development across the franchise.
- Manage risks by ensuring compliance with the relevant investment and compliance policies of the bank.
- Identify and raise operational risks and mitigate these by implementing appropriate controls.
- Meet and exceed client needs by constantly maintaining open channels of communication appropriately and timeously to all stakeholders (internally/externally) by utilising prescribed platforms.
- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank culture building activities.
- Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned.
- Enhance existing or develop new digitised processes to streamline and improve internal deal management structures to improve the overall client experience.
- Coach and mentor new team members by sharing knowledge and industry trends to build a strong talent pipeline within the business.
Essential Qualifications
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Preferred Qualification
- BCom Accounting/Finance/Economics/Engineering/Legal/BSc/Property Studies or equivalent
Essential Certifications
- CA(SA), CFA
Minimum Experience Level
- 5-10 years relevant corporate finance, strategy consulting or private equity experience and a demonstrated track record of originating, structuring and executing transactions within the organisation.
