Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to enable Financial Advisers, Financial Planners, and Wealth Managers to deliver consistent, high-quality, client-centric advice and financial planning solutions that achieve fair client outcomes and support the delivery of holistic wealth advice.
The role is responsible for ensuring that appropriate advice governance and oversight frameworks are established, maintained, and continuously enhanced across Nedbank Private Wealth (NPW), Nedbank Financial Planning (NFP), and Nedgroup Financial Advisers (NFA). This includes the design and implementation of key oversight mechanisms such as the Large Case Review Forum, Adviser Oversight Frameworks, and Advice Principal governance processes, which support effective management oversight, regulatory compliance, risk management, and the delivery of good client outcomes.
The role provides technical expertise, guidance, and specialist support to advisers on complex financial planning, wealth structuring, and fiduciary matters, helping to promote advice consistency, technical excellence, and appropriate client outcomes.
By strengthening adviser capability, embedding robust governance and oversight practices, and supporting the ongoing enhancement of the advice framework across Nedbank's FAIS licences (FSP 828, FSP 48771 and FSP 9363), promoting regulatory compliance, mitigating conduct and reputational risk, and reinforcing a culture of client-centricity and professional advice excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance advice-related frameworks, policies, standards, methodologies, templates, disclosure documentation, and Record of Advice/Review requirements to support the delivery of consistent, high-quality, client-centric advice across NPW, NFP, and NFA.
- Provide technical guidance and specialist support to Financial Advisers and Wealth Managers, and Advice Principals on complex advice matters, regulatory requirements, house views, and advice best practice.
- Enable, as the First Line of Defence (1LOD), advice oversight/governance across NPW, NFP, and NFA, ensuring that advice practices, documentation, and governance processes remain aligned with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, internal house views and policies, and industry best practice.
- Establish, maintain, and support the effective operation through Advice Principals of key advice governance and oversight mechanisms, including the Large Case Review Forum, Adviser Oversight Segmentation Frameworks, Advice and Product Forum, and Advice Principal governance processes.
- Coordinate and support advice governance forums through the preparation of agendas, governance documentation, minutes, reporting, and the tracking of actions and outcomes.
- Review and assess client cases presented to the Large Case Review Forum to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, internal house views, risk appetite, and advice governance standards.
- Monitor and report on Large Case Review Forum outcomes, escalations including the tracking and remediation of outstanding conditions, recommendations, and governance-related actions.
- Support the development, review, communication, and implementation of advice-related house views, policies, standards, and governance requirements in collaboration with Advice Specialists, Product teams, Compliance, Risk, Legal and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain oversight of advice-related regulatory, legislative, and industry developments, FAIS, and market conduct requirements, and assess their implications for advice processes and governance frameworks.
Job Responsibilities Continue
- Process custodian for advice and advice governance processes, ensuring that all processes, controls, frameworks, and supporting documentation eg Charters remain current, effective, and appropriately documented.
- Oversee the independent review, investigation, escalation, and reporting of advice-related complaints, conduct matters, and governance concerns, ensuring appropriate remediation and lessons learned.
- Support the remediation of advice-related audit findings, compliance breaches, and governance issues, including the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
- Collaborate with Product and Implementation, Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams to enhance advice processes, tools, governance controls, and adviser enablement capabilities.
- Provide input to enable the continuous improvement and automation of advice oversight and governance processes, including FAIS review processes, quality assurance frameworks, management information, and governance reporting.
- Produce and maintain management information and reporting relating to the advice team outputs.
People Specification
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- Degree – preferably a BCom (with specialisation in financial planning).
- FAIS RE 5

- Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and CFP®
Minimum Experience Level
- 3-5 years’ experience in the wealth management industry with a focus on financial planning/wealth advisory, advice governance, regulatory risk management and RDR developments.
- Experience and knowledge in financial advisory legislation, regulation and best practice.
- Experience in authoring policies, frameworks and other advice related documents.
