To provide transformational leadership, guidance and direction by supporting the business in the delivery of end-to-end strategic objectives, in line with Nedbanks' Value Proposition.
Job Responsibilities
Provincial Business Leadership
-
Develop and execute the provincial commercial strategy across a strategically significant market to drive sustainable revenue growth, expand market share, and achieve business and client-focused objectives.
- Lead the provincial franchise and align resources, priorities and execution plans to ensure consistent delivery of financial, client and operational outcomes.
- Monitor provincial business performance and take corrective action to optimise growth, profitability and competitive positioning.
- Champion consistent service and client experience standards across provincial teams to improve client satisfaction, loyalty and advocacy.
- Guide and advise on client engagement practices and service frameworks to ensure a seamless and differentiated client experience across segments and channels.
- Leverage client feedback, insights and performance data to identify improvement opportunities and enhance service delivery.
Client Coverage and Relationship Management
- Direct and oversee client coverage activities across Commercial portfolios to deepen relationships, increase share of wallet and improve client retention.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients and stakeholders to strengthen Nedbank's market presence and support long-term growth.
- Guide relationship teams in delivering integrated banking solutions to ensure clients receive consistent, value-adding and holistic financial support.
Revenue, Profitability and Portfolio Management
- Drive revenue generation, profitability and balance sheet growth across the province to achieve sustainable risk-adjusted returns.
- Oversee portfolio performance, pipeline management and client profitability to identify growth opportunities and mitigate performance risks.
- Optimise portfolio composition and resource allocation to maximise commercial outcomes and support strategic growth priorities.
Sector and Market Development
- Provide leadership across diverse economic sectors and specialised client segments to ensure differentiated client propositions, deeper market penetration and sustainable competitive advantage.
- Identify emerging market trends, sector opportunities and competitive threats to inform provincial growth strategies and strengthen market leadership.
- Partner with sector specialists and internal stakeholders to develop industry-led propositions that address client needs and unlock new business opportunities.
- Represent Nedbank within provincial business ecosystems to enhance brand reputation, visibility, influence market developments and create sustainable commercial opportunities.

Integrated Solution Delivery
- Coordinate collaboration across coverage, product, credit, service and specialist teams to ensure seamless delivery of client solutions.
- Facilitate integrated decision-making and execution across functions to improve client outcomes, service efficiency and business performance.
- Remove barriers to collaboration and service delivery to create a differentiated client experience and support business growth.
Risk, Governance and Compliance
- Direct management of large and sophisticated client portfolios to optimise growth, profitability and risk-adjusted returns while maintaining strong governance, compliance and risk discipline.
- Establish and maintain effective governance, risk and compliance practices to protect the organisation and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Embed a strong risk culture across the provincial franchise to ensure responsible decision-making and effective management of business risks.
People Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead, develop and inspire provincial leadership teams to build organisational capability and deliver superior business performance.
- Drive workforce planning, succession management and talent development initiatives to ensure a sustainable pipeline of future leaders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement to enhance employee engagement and achieve strategic objectives.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Preferred Qualification
- Essential: Relevant post-graduate degree in commerce, finance, business management, banking, economics, accounting, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Postgraduate qualification aligned to business management, business administration, commercial banking, sales leadership, financial services, or a related role domain.
Minimum Experience Level
- Essential: Minimum 10-12 years+ experience in Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Relationship Banking, Corporate Banking or a related financial services environment.
- Experience leading large-scale Commercial portfolios with significant revenue and balance sheet accountability.
- Experience managing large teams and leadership populations across multiple locations.
- Advanced stakeholder management capability.
- Strong understanding of sector-led coverage models and specialised commercial banking solutions.
- Proven ability to operate within highly complex and strategically important markets.
- Experience serving as a senior representative of an organisation within a provincial business community.
- Experience operating within highly regulated financial services environments.
