Drive the growth and profitability of the Property Finance portfolio by originating, structuring and executing complex commercial property finance transactions, while strengthening strategic client relationships and identifying cross-sell opportunities across the broader Corporate and Investment Banking offering. Leverage deep expertise in commercial property markets, capital markets and innovative deal structuring to deliver tailored financing solutions that meet client needs, maximise risk-adjusted returns, and reinforce Nedbank CIB Property Finance's position as a leading market participant.

Job Responsibilities

  • Originate, identify and secure new commercial property finance opportunities from existing Nedbank channels, strategic referral networks and non-banked clients.
  • Build, manage and grow a portfolio of commercial property finance clients, ensuring retention, optimisation of existing relationships and sustainable portfolio growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, property developers, brokers, estate agents, professional advisors and other key market participants to generate deal flow. 
  • Structure innovative financing solutions by applying a sound understanding of property finance, lending products, capital structures and market dynamics. 
  • Analyse and assess property finance opportunities through detailed financial analysis, financial modelling, debt scoping, industry research, competitor analysis and risk assessment. 
  • Prepare and present high-quality credit applications, investment memoranda, annual reviews and transaction updates to support credit and investment decision-making. 
  • Execute transactions end-to-end, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely approvals, documentation and implementation. 
  • Support the negotiation and review of legal agreements by ensuring alignment with approved terms, commercial requirements and credit conditions. 
  • Manage development finance transactions, including loan drawdowns, project monitoring and stakeholder engagement throughout the funding lifecycle. 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across Corporate and Investment Banking to identify opportunities, facilitate transactions and deliver integrated client solutions. 
  • Monitor, evaluate and mitigate credit, market and transaction risks to optimise risk-adjusted returns and maintain portfolio quality. 
  • Leverage market knowledge and insights into the commercial property sector to provide value-added advice and identify emerging opportunities and risks. 
  • Deliver exceptional client service by proactively managing client requirements, resolving queries and ensuring an excellent client experience. 
  • Achieve and exceed revenue, profitability and portfolio growth targets through proactive business development, relationship management and disciplined deal execution. 
  • Contribute to the success of the Property Finance team through knowledge sharing, collaboration, continuous learning and the demonstration of high professional and ethical standards

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • BCom/BSC in Property studies or equivalent financial qualification
  • CA(SA) and CFA an advantage

Minimum Experience Level

5 – 8 years’ experience in commercial and industrial property finance, client acquisition and sales, property development, or investment/commercial/retail banking.

Technical / Professional Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of commercial property finance, including investment, development, owner-occupied and structured lending transactions.
  • Strong understanding of the South African commercial property market, property cycles, asset classes, valuation methodologies and market dynamics.
  • Sound knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking products, solutions and cross-sell opportunities relevant to property clients.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, financial modelling, forecasting and debt servicing evaluations.
  • Knowledge of transaction structuring, including debt structuring, security packages, covenant design and risk-return optimisation.
  • Understanding of property development finance, including feasibility assessments, funding structures, drawdowns and project monitoring.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and portfolio management principles applicable to property finance transactions.
  • Understanding of legal, regulatory and documentation requirements relating to property finance, security structures and lending transactions.
  • Knowledge of governance, compliance, AML, KYC and banking risk management frameworks, including credit, market, operational and reputational risk.
  • Strong transaction execution and deal management capabilities across the full property finance lifecycle.
