Job Purpose
To manage credit assessment through a team within a specific area / cluster in order to ensure the acquisition of quality assets; enhancement of revenues and maintenance thereof within laid down policies and procedures.
Client Value Management understanding the client’s needs and environment by ensuring proactive/innovative solutions and adherence to acceptable turnaround times.
The role gives you a vital link in supporting and ensuring successful credit granting process for Commercial Banking clients through the implementation of credit mandates and risk frameworks within Nedbank Policy and Procedure.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead a decentralised team of credit leaders positioned across multiple provinces by guiding the team using a decentralized approach to enhance risk management capabilities and address region-specific
- challenges,leveraging the expertise and insights of credit risk leaders in diverse geographical areas, namely metro and rural.
- Manage balance Sheet lending in dealing with the evolution of entities via the discounted workflow method, Net Asset Value and Price Earning measures. Manage Complex Tax structures in the lending solution
- Limit the credit impairments, mitigating risk lending by ensuring quality assessments is done, considering structured lending solutions, collateral means, balance sheet, cash-flow and tax structure, etc.
- Ensure ongoing managements dealing with the measurements of these advances considering cash measurements with cumulated cash to debt ratio's, balance sheet and income statements covenants.
- Facilitate team on complex credit requests across multiple industries within the economy, in some instances dealing with multi-nationals, by guiding collaborative discussions among the credit risk team.
- Ensure financial results are met through prudent credit assessments which result in the granting of credit to acceptable risk clientele.
- Optimise resources and minimise cost through proactive management of all resources (internal and external).
- Ensure client needs and expectations are met (meeting discussions) by understanding their businesses, co-creating solutions and delivering service to them within the agreed timeframes.
- Establish and maintain sound relationships with internal/external stakeholders by attending and participating in relevant stakeholder meetings
- Build trusting working relationships with managers, subordinates and peers through regular interaction and communication.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and policies through regular and continuous monitoring of the same.
- Ensure that work is effectively executed and that results are achieved by allocating appropriate mandates to staff.
- Manage the quality of the Management Information System (MIS) data by regularly checking for errors and any inefficiencies.
- Implement and manage credit policies and standards within the respective business units across a wide geographical area and manage the quality of the portfolio on an ongoing basis.
- Manage risks through one-up audits of assessments as applicable.
- Ensure smooth output of workflow by managing assessment queues within the respective business unit.
- Resolve customer complaints by reacting within agreed timelines.
- Optimise efficiency and embed correct values by ensuring direct reports understand and support Nedbank's vision, values and strategy and are measured on delivery against these.
- Identify areas of resource inefficiencies and promote optimisation through promoting multi-skilling and addressing capacity gaps by reviewing and improving work processes.
- Facilitate deal team discussions on complex credit requests across industries within the economy, in some instances dealing with multi nationals.
- Approve and manage complex cash flow lending which include the understanding of covenants that steer credit approved facilities via cash management covenants such as debt ratios.
- Manage team effectively and efficiently across the HR value chain including recruitment, performance management, retention of critical staff, succession planning and coaching and talent management.
Minimum Experience Level
- 7 - 10 Years’ Credit Assessment and decisioning experience within Banking environment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Small Business Credit, including Franchise and Agriculture, evaluating current and prospective clients’ financial statements and credit reports to determine their ability to honor debt obligations
- Extensive understanding of legalities associated with lending and collateral.
- Min 5 Years' Team Management / Leadership experience is required.
- Proven track-record on managing a large book
Requirements
- NQF Level 7 or Higher in a Financial or Banking related field essential
- CIMA, or CA9(SA) will be advantageous
